Kiss Me Like a Stranger

It's amazing to me, how sometimes you can come across something so many times, never wanting to bother yourself with whatever "it" might be or just not wanting to bother yourself with it, but then..for some reason..you see it again and say to yourself, "Well, I've seen it so many times already, perhaps today is the day that I need to pick this up and take a look."

That is exactly what I did with the book by Gene Wilder : Kiss Me Like a Stranger. I will admit, that the reason that I didn't pick this book up off the shelf, was because I never really had an interest in Gene Wilder, neither as an actor or as an author. Sure, I've seen him in a Mel Brooks film and as famous Mr. Wonka, but that is the extent of my Gene Wilder knowledge and I never even thought to want to know more. Perhaps that is a shame on me, but I didn't lose any sleep over it.

Yesterday, my 33rd birthday, seemed to mark yet another change in life and so you would have it, I bought the Gene Wilder book...along with a few other choice books for that matter. I wasn't sure which book I was going to read first, but I decided to start reading this one first and I have to tell you..I couldn't put this book down.

I often like very intimate portrayals of peoples lives and I never would have suspected that Gene Wilder would have been one of those people to have such a colorful life. He has a mixture of sad moments and moments that made me stop and think...wow...I can't believe that someone else in the world has these same thoughts or even remotely  had any of these struggles that I have..different perhaps, but still on that same sort of wave length.

I could probably talk at very long length about this book, but I am not going to. What I am going to suggest however is that you find it..purchase it..or even have someone (as the book suggests) get if from a person that you want to kiss.
