Catherine Jacobi . Com

I had the extreme pleasure of meeting artist / sculptor Catherine Jacobi at the recent MDW Faire in Chicago. Her work was one of the last exhibits that I visited and as the saying goes, I saved the best for last. At first glance, you take notice (right away) of the use of recycled materials. However, my favorite moment of viewing was taking a step back, standing away from each piece and letting them sink in. It's in doing that that I was able to disassociate myself from the materials alone and see the pieces in an individual sect.

What I found so fascinating was the disembodiment of the human skeletal system and how the human body is in a constant state of recycling: Birth, Life, Death. Perhaps that sounds a bit morbid, but that is the function of everything living and I greatly enjoyed seeing Catherine's visual display of it.

For more information on Catherine Jacobi, please visit her website here. No disappointments, I promise. :)
